Homestay in Highgate Hill, QLD

We provide lovely rooms, suitable for students, in a traditional Queensland home.

One room is available from 20 February 2019.


Our guests have access to large living spaces, two full bathrooms, laundry and a large deck.

The homestay fee for each room is $250 per week.

The Homestay fee includes wireless, cable internet and breakfast and dinner every day and lunch on weekends (16 meals per week).

If additional meals are required or the student is attending high school the weekly fee is $280.

Our home is in the inner city suburb of Highgate Hill in Brisbane, which is only two and a half kms from the city centre. There is easy access to all major universities and colleges as well as the city centre. A small bus stop is only 150m from of our home and major bus and train stations are just a 5 minute walk. If you prefer to cycle there is good access to bikeways and we can lend you a bike. We are a short walk from Southbank Parklands and the cultural precinct which includes theaters, the museum, science centre and art galleries. Trendy West End is only one km to the west while the famous Gabba Cricket grounds are one km to the East.

We have been hosting students for over 10 years and provide a fun and relaxed home environment. Our family consists of myself, Victoria, a secondary school teacher; Milan, a cabinet maker; three teenage children; two friendly dogs, Oscar and Arthur; and chickens. Our children and I eagerly engage with our guests but also respect their privacy.

We love to cook and our students often compliment the meals in our house. We are a busy family with lots of after school sporting commitments and generally our home is very quiet at night. We enjoy visits to the beach and cinema when we have time. We are looking for someone who wants to integrate into our family, practice their English and share their culture.

We have 2 large bedrooms available for homestay students with a shared bathroom. They each have a very comfortable bed, desk, study lamp, and built-in wardrobe. All linen is provided.
